  • Microphone access
  • System audio permission if needed
  • A short test conversation
Step 2

Set up and record

1. Choose your recording context

Open Audio Notetaker for a standalone conversation, or enable recaps in Meeting Mode or Presentation Mode. Connect your calendar if you want to link an appointment.

2. Check audio permissions

Allow microphone access for your voice and Screen & System Audio Recording when you need computer audio. Choose a short test conversation before a real meeting.

3. Start and finish the session

Start recording only when you intend to capture the conversation. Stop the session when it is complete, then open its recap.

4. Review the automatic summary

Read the notes and summary, check important details against the conversation and edit the recap as needed. Rename it so you can find it later.

5. Review recipients and prepare an email

Linked calendar appointments prefill invitees. Add recipients yourself for standalone recordings. Select Email recap, review the preview and choose Open mail app. Make your final checks and send from your mail app.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about this topic and how Tapquence works.

Can Notetaker create an automatic meeting summary?

Yes. Audio Notetaker turns an explicit recording into notes and an automatic recap. Review and edit the result before sharing it.

Can I email the summary to calendar invitees?

For a recording linked to a calendar appointment, the invitees are prefilled as recipients. Review the recipients and email preview, then open your mail app to send the recap.

Can I share a standalone recording?

Yes. Add your own recipients to a standalone recording, review the recap and open the email draft in your mail app.

Do recordings and summaries stay on my Mac?

Audio, transcripts and recaps are processed and stored locally on your Mac. Sharing a recap through your mail app sends it to the recipients you choose.
