Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Tapquence processes, why we use it and the choices available to you.

Effective date: August 26, 2026

1. Who we are

Tapquence provides desktop automation software for mouse and keyboard workflows.

Tapquence is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. A third-party service may be responsible for data that it collects under its own privacy notice.

2. Information we process

We process only the data needed to provide, protect and improve Tapquence.

  • App data. Your macros, action sequences, click positions, keyboard sequences and settings stay on your device. We receive them only if you choose to send them to our support team.
  • Purchase and licence data. We may receive your name, email address, plan, licence status, transaction identifiers and billing status. Our payment provider handles your full card details. Tapquence does not store them.
  • Website and technical data. This may include your IP address, browser, device, approximate location, referral page, pages viewed, timestamps and security logs.
  • Analytics data. If you allow Analytics, Google Analytics 4 measures visits, traffic sources, page interactions, plan choices and download clicks. It may also measure checkout and purchase activity after checkout tracking is connected.
  • Advertising data. If you allow Advertising, analytics data may be used to measure ads, create audiences and show relevant Google ads. We do not use it for these purposes if you deny Advertising consent.
  • Messages. If you contact us, we use your email address and message to answer your question and provide support.

3. Why we use personal data

We use personal data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and activate Tapquence.
  • To manage trials, subscriptions and purchases.
  • To answer support requests.
  • To keep Tapquence secure and prevent fraud.
  • To improve reliability and understand website performance.
  • To meet legal duties and handle legal claims.

Our legal reason depends on the activity. It may be your contract with us, a legal duty, our legitimate interest in operating Tapquence or your consent. Analytics and Advertising are used only according to your consent choices.

4. Cookies and your choices

Analytics and Advertising are off when you first visit. You can accept all, reject non-essential processing or manage each option separately. We save your choice on your device so the website can remember it.

You can change or withdraw consent at any time through Cookie Settings. This does not affect earlier lawful processing. Essential storage remains available for security and to remember your choice.

5. Data that stays on your Mac

Tapquence is designed to keep your macros on your device. Removing the app may not remove exported files or local backups. You are responsible for backing up important workflows and protecting access to your Mac.

6. Tapquence Browser Helper

The Tapquence Browser Helper has one narrow purpose: it connects supported HTTP and HTTPS pages in supported Chromium browsers, including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, to Routine Scout in the Tapquence macOS app so you can demonstrate a browser task and review a suggested Macro.

The Browser Helper is active only while you have explicitly started a Routine Scout session. It follows the active supported tab and recognizes relevant form controls and interactions, such as field input, selections, clicks, submissions and visible completion states. It does not create a browsing history.

  • Data categories. Depending on what you deliberately enter or interact with, the Browser Helper may process personally identifiable information, such as names, email addresses or identification numbers; user activity; and website content, including field labels, control text and form values.
  • Local connection. Recognized information is passed through the browser's native messaging API to the locally installed Tapquence macOS app for the Routine Scout session and Macro review you requested. Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge use the same local helper and native-host connection; Edge does not create a separate data flow. The Browser Helper does not send this information to Tapquence analytics.
  • Protected fields. Inputs with type password or autocomplete current-password or new-password are excluded. Do not demonstrate workflows containing other confidential data unless it is necessary for the Macro you want to create.
  • Website access. The Browser Helper requests access to HTTP and HTTPS sites because a user may demonstrate a routine on a website of their choice and this access cannot be limited to predefined domains. It connects the current supported tab only during an active Routine Scout session.
  • Storage and control. Browser extension storage is used only for session and compatibility state; recorded interactions and form contents are not stored there. Routine Scout session and review data is handled locally by Tapquence and can be discarded in the app. Local Macros remain until you delete them, subject to any exported files or local backups.
  • Limited Use. Tapquence's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Browser Helper data, use or transfer it for third-party advertising or purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

7. Service providers and sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share only the data needed to run Tapquence with these providers:

  • Framer, for website hosting.
  • Google, for analytics and advertising when you consent.
  • Stripe Managed Payments, for checkout, subscriptions, invoices, tax and payments.
  • Cloudflare, for licence and service infrastructure.
  • Resend, for account and licence emails.

These providers may also act under their own privacy notices. We may share information if the law requires it, to protect users or our rights, or during a merger, acquisition or sale. We use appropriate safeguards in each case.

8. International data transfers

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. When required, we use an adequacy decision, approved contract terms or another lawful safeguard. You can find more details in each provider's privacy notice.

9. How long we keep data

We keep account, licence and transaction records only as long as needed for the service, tax, accounting, fraud prevention and legal duties.

Google Analytics data follows the retention setting in our GA4 property and your consent. We keep support messages only as long as needed to provide support or handle a dispute. Local macros remain on your device until you remove them.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data. No storage or transfer method is completely secure. Keep your Mac, operating system and Tapquence app up to date.

Report a suspected security issue to security@tapquence.com. Do not include passwords, activation codes or payment details.

11. Your privacy rights

Your rights depend on where you live. You may be able to:

  • Access or correct your personal data.
  • Ask us to delete or restrict your data.
  • Receive a portable copy of certain data.
  • Object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.

You may also complain to your local data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

12. Children

Tapquence is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal data. Contact us if you think a child has provided data, so we can review and remove it when appropriate.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Tapquence, our providers or the law changes. We will publish the new version with an updated date. We will provide extra notice when the law requires it.

14. Contact

Email privacy@tapquence.com with a privacy question or request. Tapquence is based in the Netherlands.
