Troubleshooting macOS mouse and keyboard automation

Diagnose blocked permissions, missed clicks, ignored keystrokes and target-application problems in a practical order.

Step 1

Before you start

Reduce the problem to one action. Review the current Tapquence screen and the requirements above before changing anything.

  • Target app available

Step 2

Check permissions

Most automation failures come from one of four areas: the installed app does not match the approved permission entry, the target changed, an action is no longer valid or the workflow moves faster than the application.

Quick diagnostic order

Check the installed app, Accessibility permission, target application, individual action and timing—in that order. Test one simple action after each change.

1. Confirm the installed copy

Tapquence should run from Applications. Quit a copy opened from Downloads or a disk image and launch the installed version.

2. Refresh Accessibility permission

Open Privacy & Security → Accessibility. If Tapquence is enabled but still reports a block, remove the entry, reopen the installed app and grant access again.

3. Verify the target application

Make sure the target is open, visible and in the expected window or desktop. Refresh the target list when an application has restarted or changed windows.

4. Test the failing action alone

Temporarily hide every later action. Test a simple click or key sequence and confirm the chosen position or key combination is still valid.

5. Increase the wait

If the action works manually but fails inside a longer run, add more time before it. Loading panels, network requests and animations can make application timing inconsistent.

6. Check application restrictions

Some applications, games and protected fields restrict automated input. Follow the application’s rules and never use automation to bypass access, security or platform controls.

When to contact support

Email support@tapquence.com with your macOS version, Tapquence version, target application and the smallest sequence that reproduces the issue. Do not include passwords, private customer data or other sensitive content.

Step 3

Verify the target

Run the smallest useful example once and verify the result before enabling repetition or relying on the complete workflow.

SuccessThe smallest failing action works again before the complete workflow is re-enabled.
TipChange one variable at a time: app copy, permission, target, action or timing. Otherwise the real cause remains unclear.
Step 4

Troubleshoot timing

1. Check the starting state

Confirm the installed app, target, folder or meeting is the one described in this guide.

2. Test one change

Reduce the workflow to the smallest failing action and change only one setting at a time.

3. Re-run safely

Use harmless data, add more time where needed and keep the stop control available.
